Weighting

For the ComMetrics footprint index we have 5 indicators (Google PageRank, Technorati Authority, Technorati Ranking, Yahoo! InLinks, Google BlogSearch count).

However, because the two from Technorati are really one (i.e. highly correlated .85 or higher), we count these indicators as being four in total, thereby giving each a .25 weighting.  In turn, Technorati Ranking and Technorati Authority are given each .125 weight to make up the .25 together.

As well, equal weighting (EW) does not mean no weighting. Our choice of using EW results from having made an implicit judgment on the weights being equal.
