The InfoSharing Check (you are here) addresses issues regarding the sharing of content and and adding comment to the blog for the reader when visiting. Below we explain the questions and scoring in more detail.

Indicators scored

This section has three questions which are:

4) Adding a comment is made easier by providing

    0 = other
    1 = very bad – must register with blog/site or use identity/profile (OpenID, Facebook, Twitter, WordPress, AIM) to be able to comment
    2 = average – no registration required except for providing a name, e-mail address (kept confidential), etc.
    3 = very good – if desirable for commenter => login in with Disqus, OpenID, Facebook, etc. username enabled
    9 = missing data – reasons as no sufficient data found on blog or data not entered yet

5 ) Sharing content is facilitated by offering feature, such as:

    0 = other
    1 = very bad – no easy way to print a post
    2 = average – printing of post enabled without having to use print screen
    3 = very good – feature enabled permitting printing of post AND e-mail of COMPLETE post to friend(s) (just being able to e-mail a link to blog post is not very convenient for recipient)
    9 = missing data – reasons as no sufficient data found on blog or data not entered yet

6) Making it easy to get content: subscribing to feed is enabled:

    0 = other (e.g., no RSS feed available)
    1 = very bad – RSS feed for postings  – sometimes hard to find or only available via a service like Feedburner
    2 = average – RSS feed for postings and RSS feed for comments provided (easy to find! easy to register for – copy and paste)
    3 = very good – RSS feed for comments and blog posts as well as an easy way to register an e-mail address for getting posts that way (enter e-mail here – you are registered)
    9 = missing data – reasons as no sufficient data found on blog or data not entered yet

Scoring
The maximum score to be obtained is nine points, minimum is zero.

PS. The most popular utilitarian Internet application is e-mail. Research indicates that just about 20% of Internet users understand and possibly use RSS feeds to get their news (why RSS fails with my readers).

P.P.S. Sometimes RSS posts for chosen categories and getting the RSS feed for selected categories you have to do yourself.  We provide help on how to to do this for many blogs here:

Incidentally, we provide infos about how to use RSS feeds with Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird
